Habib Farahbasi, alongside Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh at the press conference before the match against Al-Gharafa, was presented as a sign of the Esteghlal coach's confidence in this goalkeeper. Farahbasi's selection gained more significance amid rumors about Alireza Beiranvand. It was expected that he would be introduced as a serious competitor for Beiranvand at this conference.
Farahbasi's brilliant performance on the field
However, Farahbasi did not limit himself to this matter in Doha and had the opportunity to emphasize the importance of this choice with his performance on the field. In a match where the opponent had good scoring opportunities, he managed to lead Esteghlal to victory with a confident display. Farahbasi is now not only sitting next to the coach at the press conference but has also shown on the field that he can be one of Esteghlal's reliable options.

Goalkeeper competition and upcoming challenges
Nevertheless, one game cannot be considered a definitive sign of Esteghlal's lack of need for Beiranvand. The value of Farahbasi's display becomes clearer when he can replicate this level of readiness and confidence in future matches. Consistent good performance from a goalkeeper is essential to becoming a permanent choice.
Farahbasi still has a long way to go to secure his place in Esteghlal's starting lineup, especially with Khalifeh expected to join Esteghlal's goalkeepers in the mid-season. This indicates that competition in this position could become more serious, and every good performance will carry more weight in the coaching staff's selections.
Currently, Farahbasi has provided a backup for Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh's trust with his performance in Doha. If this display is repeated, it can be said that Farahbasi's second message was not just a media interpretation, and Esteghlal does not necessarily need to rely on Beiranvand for a reliable goalkeeper.
