France, after experiencing the most severe street violence in recent years, decided to impose curfew regulations in some northern cities of the country. These regulations, which will be in effect from 8 PM to 6 AM (18:00 to 04:00 GMT) in several areas, have been implemented especially in the city of Lille to control unrest.
A Decision for Security
Sébastien Lecornu, the Prime Minister of France, mentioned in an emergency cabinet meeting the possibility of declaring a state of emergency, but ultimately deemed the curfew a more suitable option for the current situation. He instructed regional officials to limit the enforcement of these regulations to specific areas to protect businesses as well.

Lecornu stated, "However, under the current circumstances, it seems that the curfew and the implementation of these regulations are more proportional to the situation we may face." This action comes in the wake of unrest following student demonstrations for improved school conditions.
Consequences and Social Effects
In recent days, France has faced protests and unrest that have caused serious damage to infrastructure and various businesses. According to initial statistics, at least 3,000 businesses have been affected by this unrest. In this regard, the Prime Minister has promised that these businesses will benefit from a "special support fund" and other supportive measures.
The Élysée Palace also announced that Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has asked Laurent Nunez to investigate how to make the streets of France safer and to bring the perpetrators of the violence to justice. This action reflects the government's serious concerns about the social and economic impacts of this unrest.
France has turned to security measures with only six months remaining until the election of Emmanuel Macron's successor, and this unrest could have significant effects on the upcoming election process. Lecornu also urged the public to use media and television as a source to understand the situation and emphasized that the disturbances have mainly concentrated in urban centers.
