Economic challenges and the consequences of the war with Iran are two key issues that will impact the fate of Donald Trump and the Republicans as the 2026 U.S. midterm elections approach. With only two days left until the elections, polls indicate that Democrats are in a strong position to seize the House of Representatives.

Public Dissatisfaction and Trump's Declining Popularity

Dissatisfaction with the economic situation and rising living costs have affected the political atmosphere in the country and weakened Trump's position. According to recent polls, Trump's approval rating has dropped to 32 percent, and 73 percent of respondents believe that the cost of living is very high. These statistics highlight the difficulties facing Republicans.

Electoral Competitions and the Future of Congress

In the upcoming elections, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats will be contested. Republicans currently hold 218 seats in the House and 53 in the Senate, but Democrats have a strong chance of gaining a majority in the House. Meanwhile, their path to the Senate is more complicated, as the party must win in states that voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Election analysts believe that Democrats have a high chance of attracting voters, especially in states like Alaska, Kansas, Iowa, and Texas, where the races have become highly competitive. Texas, as a key state, has drawn special attention.

The economy, the war with Iran, and immigration issues are the main concerns for voters. 84 percent of voters consider the economic situation a very important factor in choosing candidates, and 47 percent see the situation in Iran as influential on their electoral decisions.

The elections on Tuesday, November 3, will not only reflect the future composition of Congress but will also serve as a measure of public support for the policies of the U.S. President. These elections could determine the fate of Republicans and Democrats in the next two years.
