The development of entrepreneurship centers in the welfare cities and shelters of Tehran has begun to create job opportunities for beneficiaries. According to Abdulmajid Rahmani, the CEO of the Welfare, Services, and Social Participation Organization of Tehran Municipality, this initiative aims to provide services and employment to vulnerable individuals in society.

Focus on Beneficiaries with Special Conditions

Rahmani stated: "Tehran Municipality is working with street addicts and individuals who are barred from receiving services. Some of these individuals cannot work due to age or physical conditions. For example, those under 18 or over 65 years old, or those with specific disabilities, cannot be active in the job market."

He added: "Therefore, our focus is more on welfare cities like Welfare City 4 and 9, especially in the area of women where we operate in regions 5 and 10." In these centers, individuals who are suitable for entering the job market will be assessed for their abilities, and based on their skills and job categories, employment and entrepreneurship capacities will be created.

Development Programs for the Future

Rahmani continued: "We started work from Welfare City 9 and after the New Year, we have begun entrepreneurial activities in two or three different categories. Our goal by the end of the year is to create entrepreneurship capacity for about 1,500 to 2,000 people in Welfare City 9. In the first phase, capacity has been created for about 700 individuals."

The CEO of the Welfare, Services, and Social Participation Organization of Tehran Municipality also referred to the implementation of the program to establish entrepreneurship centers alongside the shelters of Tehran and said: "This year, we have instructed the regions to create entrepreneurship centers next to their shelters. Currently, the entrepreneurship center in Region 3 is almost ready for inauguration, and in Region 5, a tender has been held, with the winner ready to start work. Other regions are also modeling this initiative."

Rahmani emphasized: "Our main approach this year is to create employment and business conditions for beneficiaries in the organizations that serve them. These individuals should not only receive services but also have the opportunity to engage in work and activities."
