The first phase of the Yadegar Imam Highway project, approximately ٢.٥ kilometers long, includes access from the north to the west of the Yadegar Imam Highway in the area from Imam Street to Fath Square, and was inaugurated in Shahrivar this year. Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad Aghamiri, the head of the Urban Development Committee of the Tehran City Council, reminded in the ٤٣٣rd council meeting of the history of this project, stating that this plan began in the ١٩٩٠s and only reached limited operation by ٢٠١٢.
Challenges of Property and Utility Opponents
Aghamiri continued to refer to the challenges facing this project, saying: "٦٠ to ٧٠ percent of the time spent on large urban projects is devoted to resolving property and utility disputes." He pointed to the difficulties of acquisition in this path and added: "In this project, there were significant property opponents, including ٢٧ registered plots consisting of ٩٠ residential units and ١١ sheds of the Ministry of Education in areas ٩ and ١٠, as well as the lands of the Jey Garrison, which were acquired with the efforts of the mayors of the regions and the Urban Development Department."

Hope for Reduced Traffic Burden
The head of the Urban Development Committee of the Tehran City Council also addressed the utility challenges of this project and noted that "the surface water channel (Qolghali) required the acquisition of surrounding residential units, which was successfully completed." He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of invitation for the members of the Urban Development Commission to the inauguration ceremony, but at the same time appreciated the efforts of those involved in this project. Aghamiri expressed hope that with the completion of the second phase of the Yadegar Imam Highway, which includes the west to north route, the traffic burden in western Tehran would be further reduced.
The second phase of this project is scheduled to be inaugurated in Aban this year, and according to Aghamiri, this covered section, ٥٥٠ meters long, is another feature of this project. With the completion of this section, it is expected that the quality of life in this area will improve and citizens will face less traffic.
