Colonel Ali-Asghar Sharifi, head of the Tehran Traffic Police Information Center, warned drivers that new fines for violations related to vehicle lights and illumination could have serious consequences, including the cancellation of technical inspections. Since the beginning of 1405, over 67,000 instances of technical violations in the vehicle lighting system at night have been recorded. This statistic highlights the necessity of paying more attention to safety and legal issues on the roads.
Fines and Their Consequences
Colonel Sharifi further detailed the amounts of fines related to vehicle lights and illumination. According to him, using fog lights or colored lights and having white light at the back and red light at the front of the vehicle incurs a fine of 150,000 tomans. Additionally, failing to turn on lights from sunset to sunrise and whenever necessary for any reason will result in a fine of 120,000 tomans.

Not having or malfunctioning front, rear, brake, or turn signal lights, or changing the color of the lights incurs a fine of 90,000 tomans. Driving with high beams when low beams should be used, as well as not using or incorrectly using hand signals or vehicle turn signals when necessary, each incurs a fine of 60,000 tomans. Covering all or part of the front or rear lights that reduces, alters, or intensifies the light also incurs a fine of 100,000 tomans.
Consequences of Light and Illumination Violations
Colonel Sharifi emphasized that the violation of using fog lights or lights with dazzling brightness (colored lights) not only incurs a fine and negative points but also leads to the cancellation of the technical inspection. This can create problems for drivers, as in the case of cancellation of the technical inspection, a grace period is given to these vehicles to rectify their deficiencies and reapply for a technical inspection.
These new regulations have been established to enhance safety on the roads and reduce accidents caused by technical deficiencies in vehicles. Drivers should be aware that adhering to these regulations not only helps increase their own safety and that of others but also prevents legal and financial issues.
