The ranking of 15-year-old students globally based on the results of the international 'PISA' test in 2025 has been released. This assessment, conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), evaluates students' skills in three areas: mathematics, science, and reading across 91 educational systems, and its results reflect the educational status of various countries.
Leading Regions in the 'PISA' Test
In this ranking, various regions of China, with an average score of 578.7, have secured the first position. Students from these regions, including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, achieved scores of 597, 612, and 527 in science, mathematics, and reading, respectively. Following China, Singapore with an average of 552.7 and Taiwan with 531.3 points rank second and third.

Singapore has solidified its position in reading with a score of 535, in mathematics 563, and in science 560. Taiwan has also achieved significant successes in this test with scores of 540 in science, 546 in mathematics, and 508 in reading.
Educational Challenges in Other Countries
While students from East Asian countries have excelled in this test, the state of education in other parts of the world, especially in Africa, is concerning. None of the educational systems in Africa are among the top 40. According to UNESCO reports, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, teacher shortages, and unequal access to education continue to overshadow the continent.
Additionally, in other continents like North America, students face issues such as learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic and socio-economic pressures. Analytical results from the Brookings Institution indicate that American students' scores have been declining since the 2010s, and this trend has intensified in recent years.
Ultimately, these results not only reflect the inherent abilities of students but also the educational and socio-economic conditions of different countries. It is expected that, given the existing challenges, efforts to improve educational systems and reduce socio-economic gaps worldwide will continue.
