Benjamin Netanyahu, the current Prime Minister of Israel, is currently in a difficult situation. As Gadi Eisenkot, the leader of the Yesh Atid party, leads in recent polls, a plan has been proposed to form a unity cabinet involving Netanyahu with the support of some American officials. This plan has been particularly discussed ahead of the general elections in the occupied territories and is facing serious opposition.
Political Crisis in Israel
Polls indicate that neither of the two parties, Likud led by Netanyahu and Yesh Atid led by Eisenkot, will be able to secure the 61 seats necessary to form a cabinet. This reality has intensified speculation about the future of the Israeli cabinet. In this context, American and Zionist officials are examining a plan that would allow Netanyahu to return to power if he loses the elections.

American Pressure to Preserve Netanyahu
Reports indicate that Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, has supported Netanyahu on several occasions and even called for votes in his favor. Trump has also exerted pressure on Isaac Herzog, the President of the Zionist regime, to pardon Netanyahu due to corruption charges. This intervention by Trump in Israel's internal affairs is unprecedented and is currently facing severe criticism from Eisenkot's supporters.
Gadi Eisenkot and his group have heavily criticized Netanyahu for failing to manage recent crises, including Hamas attacks and the wars in Gaza and Lebanon. They have also criticized Netanyahu's alliances with far-right politicians, believing that these policies have exacerbated violence in the West Bank.
Challenges Facing the Unity Cabinet
While Netanyahu's camp continues its efforts to advance this plan, some American officials doubt Netanyahu's ability to create a stable cabinet. They point to Netanyahu's history of betraying allies to maintain power. However, Netanyahu has privately assured American and European officials that he can set aside his far-right partners and help lead a more moderate coalition.
In contrast, Eisenkot has publicly opposed the idea of a unity cabinet, believing that Israeli voters should determine the election's outcome. He has stated in an interview that he will never serve under Netanyahu and will immediately resign if this plan is implemented. Meanwhile, he has recently responded more cautiously to questions about Trump's pressures.
