Ali Karimi Maqam, the Islamic Republic of Iran's diplomat to the United Nations, on Monday responded to the claims of the Bahraini diplomat regarding human rights at the meeting of the Third Committee of this international body. He criticized Bahrain, saying: "This country speaks of human rights while being blind to the underlying events."

Bahrain and Its Role in Regional Tensions

Karimi Maqam stated that Bahrain is not a victim, adding: "This country has provided territory, bases, and airspace for the illegal war against Iran by the United States." These remarks come as Bahrain is recognized as one of the close allies of the United States in the region, and these collaborations have always been criticized by Iran. The Iranian diplomat emphasized that Bahrain cannot express surprise at the consequences of these collaborations and pointed to the importance of regional security.

Iran's Response to Threats

Karimi Maqam stated: "Iran was not the initiator of the attack and was attacked." He reminded that Tehran's reaction was "an exercise of inherent legitimate right" and that if the use of countries' territories to attack Iran is repeated, there will be a response. These statements reflect the firm stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran against external threats and emphasize the right to self-defense.

The Iranian representative at the Third Committee of the United Nations addressed the Bahraini representative, saying: "There are only two paths. Either we build security together in the region or we will endure insecurity together." This statement underscores the need for cooperation and dialogue in the region, which will clearly impact the existing tensions. Karimi Maqam warned that if Bahrain chooses the same path again, it should not expect a different outcome.

This meeting takes place amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, as many countries seek to establish security and stability in this sensitive region. Karimi Maqam's remarks may indicate a new approach by the Islamic Republic of Iran in dealing with claims and criticisms from regional countries.
