Airstrikes on an area near Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, on Saturday, November 7, claimed at least 33 lives and injured 39 others. According to published reports, most of the victims of these attacks are women and children.

Details of the Airstrikes

The Saba news agency, controlled by the Houthis, reported that these attacks hit residential homes in the Bani Hashish area east of Sanaa. Abdulaziz Al-Dailami, the director of the "Sehatna" hospital in Sanaa, expressed serious concern about the dire condition of the victims, stating that some rescuers have also been trapped under the rubble.

He added: "The attacks continue. As soon as rescuers arrive at the scene, another strike occurs. We have even lost some of our rescue personnel." Additionally, some of the injured have been transferred to the hospital due to severe injuries.

Impacts and Consequences of the Conflicts

If confirmed, these attacks would be among the deadliest reported since the resumption of hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in July. Since then, the 2022 ceasefire brokered by the United Nations has ended, and the fighting has intensified once again.

In recent months, the Houthis have carried out missile and drone attacks on airports and oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, and in response, Saudi Arabia has also conducted airstrikes in Yemen. These new conflicts, linked to the broader war between the U.S. and Iran, have once again fueled the long-standing war in Yemen and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the country.

The International Organization for Migration announced in October that over 200,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since the onset of the new round of conflicts. This humanitarian crisis presents a grim reality of life in Yemen and has worsened the situation for millions in the country.
