On September 27, 2025, six resolutions of the United Nations Security Council were reactivated following the completion of the "snapback" process (automatic return of sanctions). This action was taken in response to Tehran's continued and significant non-compliance with its nuclear commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Commitments of 56 countries to prevent the proliferation of weapons
Now that a year has passed since the implementation of these resolutions, the endorsing countries of the "Proliferation Security Initiative" (PSI) reaffirmed their determination to continuously implement all commitments related to the restored Security Council resolutions. This international coalition, established in 2003 to prevent the transfer of weapons of mass destruction by irresponsible states, seeks to maintain global security and prevent nuclear threats.

These 56 countries also remind that the 2003 statement of principles on the seizure, which all participating countries in the nuclear proliferation initiative have endorsed, emphasizes their commitment to all relevant international laws and frameworks, including Security Council resolutions.
Effective measures to prevent the transfer of weapons
These countries have committed to taking effective measures to prevent the supply, sale, or transfer of items, materials, equipment, and technologies to Iran that could lead to sensitive nuclear activities. Furthermore, the maintenance of sanctions related to the supply, sale, or transfer of weapons and military equipment to or from Iran has also been emphasized in this statement.
The countries in this statement specify that swift and simple procedures should be adopted to facilitate the exchange of information regarding Iran's proliferation activities among the member states of the "Proliferation Security Initiative." They also agreed to continuously review their national legal frameworks and authorities to ensure the effectiveness of their actions.
In this regard, they have also committed to taking specific and appropriate actions to support efforts to prevent and seize shipments related to Iran's proliferation activities. This statement particularly welcomes all national efforts to implement the commitments arising from the Security Council resolutions and emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in this area.
At the end of this statement, the signatory countries urge Iran to comply with its non-proliferation commitments and to cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency. They also stress the need to address the concerns of the international community regarding the proliferation of weapons.
